Για την ιστορία: ...Στο ακρωτήρι του Κάβο Μελανιός, απέναντι από τα Ψαρά βρήκαν καταφύγιο περίπου 10.000 Χιώτες και περίμεναν τα ψαριανά πλοία να τους μεταφέρουν στα Ψαρά. Δυστυχώς όμως η μεγάλη θαλασσοταραχή τους στάθηκε εμπόδιο και σφαγιάσθηκαν σχεδόν όλοι από τους Τούρκους. Ήταν τόσο πολύ το αίμα, που η θάλασσα «μελάνιασε» γύρω από τον κάβο και την παραλία. ... (April 1822) It is said that in this place ,10.000 people of Chios were killed by Turks.The sea was full of blood. "Melanios" was the greek word to describe the color of the sea, back then. |
